FAQ

Got questions? We are happy to assist you.

  • What is the origin of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®?

The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology was in many ways the brainchild of the former CEO of the LEGO® Systems Group in Denmark, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, who discovered the work of Johan Roos and Bart Vector. He pioneered these two expert organizational psychologists, who invented, developed, created, and tested the process at his Imagination Lab in Switzerland. Once tried and tested in the market, the LEGO Systems Group continued to work on the method internally. The company retains ownership of the methodology today.

  • Why should I get certified?

Both the LEGO® Group and the international facilitator community endorse a world-class training program to ensure safe and successful implementation. We offer an intensive three-day training program where we not only explain and teach you the method from the inside out but also train you on the best way to implement it. The more rigorous you learn about LSP from our expert trainers, the more consistent your skills will be and the more value you can provide to your clients.

  • Who has designed this program?

Jacqueline Lloyd Smith, Lloyd Smith Solutions (Canada) and Dr. Denise Meyerson, MCI (Australia) were original members of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Training Board in the LEGO Play4Business division. They trained and certified people on behalf of the LEGO® Systems Group and were actively involved in bringing it to the current model.

The SPGEurope® team lives on a constant mission to learn more and bring new ideas to this training program, making it dynamic, up-to-date and always student-centered.

  • Who are the LSP Master Trainers?

Jacquie and Denise were long-time partners in the Serious Play® Division of the LEGO® Systems Group and were also appointed members of the LEGO® Training Board by the LEGO® Play4Business Division. Both were trained and certified as "Master Trainers" by LEGO®.

  • What is the Global Federation of LSP Master Trainers?

The Global Federation of LSP Master Trainers has been developed to ensure that the training offered and/or supervised by Trainers & Master Trainers meets the highest standards. All Federation members train and certify facilitators in LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods globally. The training offered is of the highest quality and continues to innovate permanently.

The unique training is academically solid since we work together with an expert curriculum designer who guarantees the rigor and strength of our content.

The innovative certification training offered under the SPGEurope® brand has been approved by the Global Federation of LSP Master Trainers. When you train with one of these trainers, you will also be registered as a certified facilitator in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods.

  • Can I be certified as a facilitator by Strategic Play®?

Absolutely! We will personally sign it and it will serve as proof of your attendance, participation and, of course, your certification.

  • What kind of materials do I need?

With your certification you receive a set of materials with which you can dictate your first workshops. Other official LSP kits and materials can be purchased online on the LEGO® website. In case you need support and intermediation for the acquisition of additional materials, your trainer is your reference contact.

  • Are there additional payments after certification?

Absolutely not. Your license is universal, perpetual and unipersonal. You are free to conduct LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshops in any way you wish once you are certified as a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Facilitator. However, one requirement: you must use original LEGO® bricks in your workshop!
